Tech Update: Mainnet is Coming Next Week — What To Expect
We are pleased to share that this will probably be the last tech update before our Mainnet release next week! We’re excited about what the future may bring — and we hope you are too.
In this update, we will share here how we plan to roll out the Mainnet and how you should prepare. The coming weeks will be packed with announcements, so be sure to stay tuned to our channels.
As we have always said, our top priority is security and stability. We‘ve been thoroughly testing the Mainnet, and our auditors are nearly done with their work. The security audit continues to progress smoothly, with just a few more days until completion. At this point, we see no show-stoppers to a launch next week.
To ensure a smooth and secure release, the launch will happen in phases, allowing for continuous monitoring of the network’s performance.
The Planned Phases are as follows:
- Private Mainnet Deployment and COTI V2 TGE — The first phase includes a private deployment of the Mainnet, along with the Token Generation Event (TGE) for COTI V2. This phase is already underway!
- Public Release of Mainnet — Essentially, this is the due date and it’s planned for late next week. At this stage, Mainnet will be fully deployed and publicly accessible via a new Explorer. Users will be able to add COTI’s new network to their MetaMask wallets, too. The network will launch with a select group of Full Node operators actively confirming transactions from day one. In addition, a marketing event with a few surprises will also take place which you definitely won’t want to miss!
- Bridge release — A short few days after the public release, a new Bridge will go live, enabling COTI holders to swap tokens from Native V1 → Native V2 and ERC20 ↔ COTI V2. This will be your first opportunity to access COTI V2!
- Treasury V2 — Initially, the Treasury will remain the same, and no immediate action is required, other than adding your MetaMask address to the Treasury as previously communicated here. Once we launch the Treasury V2 (which supports COTI V2 tokens), you will be able to withdraw V2 tokens and also claim rewards from The COTI V2 Airdrop Campaign. We expect Treasury V2 to launch about two weeks after the public Mainnet release. Until this time, expect everything to remain the same.
- Nodes — At the time of the public Mainnet launch, a few COTI V2 Nodes operated by community members will go live. As described in our recent announcement, Node Licenses will be made available in the months following the Mainnet launch, with more details to be shared in the coming weeks. How to best prepare for Mainnet launch:
Link your MetaMask wallet to receive Treasury rewards.
As a reminder, VIPER wallet users with deposits in the Treasury who haven’t submitted a MetaMask address yet will need to do so before the Mainnet launch to be able to receive their COTI V2 Airdrop Campaign rewards. This is especially important for users with a multiplied deposit in the Treasury, as you will not be able to perform actions before this step is completed!
Linking your MetaMask wallet is a simple process that only takes a few minutes. Check out our walkthrough video for step-by-step instructions.
No need to worry about swapping tokens or migration yet.
If you’re already deposited in the Treasury then migration will happen automatically once the Treasury upgrades to Treasury V2. If you hold Native V1 tokens or COTI ERC20 tokens in your wallet, you’ll have ample time to swap them, so there is no need to take any action now.
