Tech Update: Devnet Sunset, Node Management, Audit Progress and more
Mainnet is fast approaching and it’s an exciting time for everyone at COTI. We are working on the details now as we prepare for launch which means lots of updates this week! Let’s look at what our developer team has been working on:
- Testnet Upgrade
- Nodes Management Application
- ERC20 bridge
- Audit
- Devnet Sunset
Testnet Upgrade
COTI’s Testnet was upgraded on Wednesday March 5th and is now implemented and running as expected.
The upgrade includes a number of bug fixes and optimizations that were necessary to improve stability of the network ahead of Mainnet launch. Since the upgrade reset the network from scratch, developers who have smart contracts running on COTI will now need to redeploy them. If you need more information or assistance please contact us via the COTI Discord channel.
Node Management Application
The COTI L2 will be underpinned by a decentralized and diverse ecosystem of nodes, with highly granular and flexible controls for node operators. We are continuing to work on the node management application, which will make it easy to take part in the new node ecosystem!
We’ll be announcing more on this in the near future. For now, we can say there will be a phased rollout of functionality. COTI’s L2 will be secured by a decentralized network of nodes from day 1. Once the network is running at its best, we’ll welcome additional node operators and introduce exciting new features to build an even more vibrant ecosystem! Stay tuned for more on this topic.
ERC20 Bridge
Once Mainnet is live, users will have the ability to move their ERC20 COTI tokens on Ethereum to the new COTI Network. We’re working on the architecture and implementation of the ERC20 bridge that will make this possible. This will be, an optional, but key piece of ecosystem infrastructure.
Reminder: Users with COTI V1 tokens held in the Treasury should log into VIPER wallet at pay.coti.io and link their MetaMask wallet, to facilitate the process of migrating deposits to the new COTI network. We request that users do this sooner, rather than later, for the best experience at Mainnet launch. Find out more.
Hacken Audit
As you may know, our audit with Hacken is ongoing and so far no critical issues have arisen. We expect the audit to be complete sometime around the last week of March. This means we are currently still on track for the scheduled Mainnet launch at the end of March — though of course, we will be guided by what the Hacken team finds in the meantime. Right now, though, everything is looking very promising.
Devnet Sunset
As previously announced on Discord, our Devnet was sunset on March 2 and the Devnet faucet decommissioned. Since the Devnet SDK is no longer supported, there was no real value in continuing to maintain the Devnet. This change only affects a small number of people, and we have worked to assist those users ahead of time.
A new era is about to begin! — stay tuned and stay COTI!
