COTI Network Developer Update, February 7th 2025

As we gear up for the COTI Mainnet launch, our development team continues to make significant progress across the ecosystem. This week’s key milestones include:

  • Hacken Audit underway
  • MetaMask Snap progress
  • A new explorer is coming
  • Learn how to deploy private NFTs

Let’s dive into the details!

Hacken Audit Underway

The audit for COTI Mainnet is now well underway, and wer’re pleased to be working with Hacken — one of the most respected security firms in Web3 — and our trusted ecosystem partner! Security is a top priority for us and this work underscores our commitment to delivering a trustworthy and battle-tested Mainnet.

Hacken’s team is meticulously reviewing our protocol and smart contract code to ensure that every aspect of our network is as secure, resilient and ready for launch. The full audit process is expected to take seven weeks in total. We will provide updates along the way as results come in.

MetaMask Snap

The COTI MetaMask Snap is a core component allowing users to interact with private data—such as ERC20 private balances and transaction amounts — directly within MetaMask.

Snaps are MetaMask extensions that expand its functionality beyond simple EVM systems, allowing seamless integration with custom blockchain operations directly from within the wallet.

You may have seen our VP of R&D, Guy Mesika, tweet on this topic recently.

The COTI Snap will enable seamless onboarding for users, importing their AES keys and allowing them to decrypt encrypted on-chain objects, such as private ERC20 tokens and NFTs. Without the custom Snap, these objects could not be viewed — just as they remain encrypted to other users who do not have the correct account key.

The Snap is, therefore, an innovative integration that is vital for both security and a seamless user experience on COTI. The COTI MetaMask Snap is still in development, look out for further updates on its progress and availability soon.

New Block Explorer

COTI developers are working on implementing a new block explorer, powered by Blockscout, an open source, customizable explorer toolkit.

Blockscout allows us to create a dedicated COTI block explorer that enables users to search, analyze, and track all network transactions, blocks, and smart contract activities. Our work here will offer users a more intuitive and accessible interface, providing full visibility into the workings of the COTI network.

Developer Session: Create Your First Private NFT

Wednesday’s developer session provided a walkthrough on how to deploy private NFTs on the COTI network. This was a great opportunity to take a deep dive into COTI’s technology, from getting started with our smart contracts to deploying and minting your first private COTI Capybara NFT! If you missed it, you can catch up on the session below. And, of course, feel free to reach out to us on Discord or via Telegram and ask any questions you still have.

As planned we will continue to post weekly tech updates to keep you in step with our developments as we continue to push forward with Mainnet. There’s lots coming over the next few weeks, so stay tuned!

Stay COTI!
