September has been an epic month for the COTI team. The Ignition campaign kicked off with the launch of our Testnet, alongside the announcement of 14 new and high-profile partnerships. We published a benchmark study on the performance of Garbled Circuits, the privacy technology used within COTI, and finally the team attended Token2049 and Solana Breakpoint, appearing at several privacy-focused side events and rounding off the week with a party for more than 300 partners and industry leaders!

Let’s take a closer look at the action.

IGNITION: COTI Testnet Launch

The Ignition Campaign marked the highly anticipated launch of the COTI Testnet, a significant milestone for the company — and for the Web3 industry at large. The Testnet marks the first time that onchain privacy is fast enough for consumer applications. COTI runs 250x lighter than alternatives meaning it can run on any device, even mobile, which is a game changer for Web3. Projects building privacy into their dApps on COTI will be able to scale for the first time to meet consumer needs in a way that’s affordable and efficient.

At the same time as the Testnet launch, we refreshed COTI’s messaging to reflect its new status as ‘The Fastest, Lightest privacy Layer in Web3’. This claim was supported by a benchmarking study, conducted in collaboration with Soda Labs, which compared Garbled Circuits (GC) to the closest alternative privacy protocol, Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE). The study found that GC is between 1800x — 3000x faster than FHE!

COTI is the first on-chain integration of GC and it’s ready for prime time!

New Launch Partnerships

As part of the Ignition campaign we were excited to reveal that 14 high-profile companies were joining the COTI ecosystem! The COTI team would like to extend a warm welcome to all our new partners, including the long-standing wallet solution My Ether Wallet (MEW), AI-powered cybersecurity firm AnChain.ai, decentralized web browser Carbon Browser, Web3 gaming company UNKJD, Ethereum name service provider ZNS, as well as Kapa.ai, Staking Rewards, BizThon, L2Beat, Privacy Guardians, Poolz, and finally Gitcoin and blockchain security auditor Hacken who will both support COTI with grants.

Our new partners join existing ecosystem members such as Civic, Xctuality, PriveX, Porta, IntentX, Soda Labs, Lava Network, Symmio, DeCC, Market Acros and Bol.

Over the coming weeks we’ll spotlight our new partners to reveal how COTI privacy will be applied across multiple sectors. Watch this space.

COTI at Token2049 in Singapore

To promote the Testnet launch, members of COTI’s leadership team travelled to Token2049 where they participated in a strong line-up of privacy-themed side events. The side events did not disappoint. Shahaf, COTI’s CEO and Joshua, COTI’s Chief Ecosystem and Partnerships Officer had opportunities to represent the company at the following events:

  • DeCompute with Soda Labs
  • DeCC Day where we were sponsors and spoke on the topic of Building Web3 Repsonsibly. Check out the summary here
  • TEE Unconference with EigenLayer
  • ReDeFining Privacy by Partisia

Engagement was great and we wrapped up the week with a private event for partners and industry leaders that was oversubscribed, with over 300 guests in attendance!

The conference was an opportunity to strengthen ties with our partners and to meet many new projects interested in the COTI privacy technology. Shahaf took up interview opportunities with Ran Neuner’s Crypto Banter Show, Blockster, and Band Protocol, and chatted with a senior Coindesk reporter about privacy and CBDCs.

The creators of Garbled Circuits (GC) from Soda Labs were also present and Dr. Avishay Yanai spent time discussing the technology with Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin.

Tooling for COTI Testnet Developers

Our developer team has worked diligently behind the scenes to ensure a smooth Testnet launch and to produce additional tooling for developers, including:

  • Testnet Explorer: Easily track blocks and transactions.
  • Testnet Faucet: Obtain testnet tokens to fuel your experiments.
  • Uptime Dashboard: Giving you the ability to monitor the network’s status, including validators and the health of full nodes. This is particularly useful for node operators and troubleshooting any network-related issues.
  • Testnet SDK support: Seamlessly integrate COTI features into your apps using TypeScript and Python.

To further support developers, we followed up on the Testnet launch with a Developer Session to help the first round of users to onboard. Watch the session back here. We released the COTI Remix Plugin Demo, providing a step-by-step guide to accessing COTI within the Remix IDE, the leading destination for Ethereum developers and as if that wasn’t enough, we launched a custom AI chatbot to assist onboarding of COTI developers! Our AI led Chatbot is trained on COTI resources and can provide quick help on a range of technical topics and is located in our documentation.

COTI in The Media

COTI has featured extensively in the media this month, thanks to the Testnet launch, including coverage in Binance Square, Coindesk’s Protocol Village, Coinspeaker, Cryptobriefing, and many more. COTI CEO Shahaf featured in Cardano’s monthly show ‘Cardano360’, and COTI received a mention from influencer Gigi. As a result of the Testnet launch we have been invited to appear on the popular X Spaces sessions: FOMO Hour, Crypto Town Hall and Ready Player H. Stay tuned for announcements on these appearances.

In early September, we held our third COTI Connect Spaces featuring guests from Porta wallet, PriveX, and Minswap, the latter to discuss the DJED launch. The next Spaces is scheduled for late October.

September also saw the release of new content on our Medium channel, including articles on the use case of RWAs, COTI’s partnership with the upcoming DeFi protocol PriveX, and core campaign content on the topic of Garbled Circuits. A new guest writer, Guy B., also contributed thoughtful articles titled ‘The Privacy Problem’ and ‘Benchmarking COTI: A Breakthrough in Faster, Lighter Confidential Computing’.

What’s Next?

We are gearing up for DevCon, the next big event for the COTI team, and we are going all out! If you’ll be attending, let us know. Meanwhile, we’re making steady progress on finalizing the CBDC project for the Bank of Israel and look forward to presenting our outcomes to the judging panel at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange in late October.

Our developer team are now focussed on the Mainnet launch, which is slated for release before the end of Q4. Meanwhile, the Ignition campaign will continue to run throughout October to promote COTI’s mission to establishing privacy for Web3 users, while raising COTI’s profile across the industry.

Don’t go anywhere — we’re just getting started!
